Buttons/Access

Access

Every person who uses Buttons gets their own account, and roles decide what each account can see and do. These pages cover creating users, building roles and scoping them to specific resources, showing different controls by role, reviewing active sessions, and setting up PIN or NFC identification at a control surface.
They are for administrators who manage who can reach Buttons. If your organization already runs an identity provider, the SSO pages cover connecting it and mapping its groups or claims to Buttons roles.

Create and manage users

Add a user account, send the one-time setup link so they can set a password, and recover the System Administrator account.

Create roles and assign permissions

Build a role as a bundle of permissions, choose between blanket and specific access per resource type, and read what a role grants.

Grant access to specific resources

Scope a role to individual positions, connections or other resources, and understand how a specific grant combines with a blanket one.

Show different controls by role

Use a Role Section to show different content to different roles on the same position, and preview what each role sees.

Sessions

What a session is, how to review active sessions, and how to end one.

Set up PIN and NFC sign-in

Give a user a PIN or assign an NFC card so they can identify themselves quickly at a control surface.

SSO

Sign in to Buttons through an identity provider such as OIDC, LDAP or Active Directory, and map its claims to roles.
