NMOS

NMOS lets IP media devices from different vendors describe themselves and expose controllable connections in a consistent way. Buttons can find NMOS nodes directly on the network or through a registry, adopt them as connections, and route their senders and receivers the same way it routes any other source or destination.
These pages are for the people who set up and maintain IP media routing in a facility: start with the concepts, then pick the discovery path that fits your network, and come back to the connection settings, inventory, multicast management, and troubleshooting pages as you need them.

Understand NMOS in Buttons

The NMOS concepts you need to configure Buttons: nodes, devices, senders, receivers, registries, and how discovery differs from adoption.

Connect Buttons to an NMOS Registry

Add a Registry connection, confirm its endpoints are reachable, and choose which of the nodes it reports Buttons adopts.

Built-in Registry Server

Run the IS-04 registry inside Buttons so NMOS nodes can register with it, advertise it over mDNS, and serve IS-09 system parameters.

Configure NMOS connections

Set an adopted node's endpoints, polling, and Group Mode, and tune the behaviors that decide how Buttons reacts to sender and receiver state.

Discover and adopt

Adopt peer-to-peer nodes found over mDNS, check their senders and receivers, and take a first route between them.

Browse the NMOS inventory

List every NMOS sender and receiver across adopted nodes and registries, with transport, SDP, multicast, and bitrate details.

Manage NMOS multicast addresses

Define multicast address pools per media category and let Buttons assign, override, renew, and release sender addresses automatically.

Diagnose NMOS problems

Work through discovery, registry, node, route, SDP, and multicast failures using the NMOS Logs and connection status indicators.
