Buttons/Positions/Shift Section

Shift Section

Use a Shift Section when a group of primary controls needs a secondary layer in the same area of a position. The section starts with a Main page and a Shift page, plus a built-in Shift control for moving between them.
For example, the Main page can recall PTZ camera presets while the Shift page saves the current camera position to those presets. The two related functions then use the same part of the surface.

Tip

You can hide the built-in Shift control and use the internal action Set Active Page to create custom navigation between Main and Shift.

Create a Shift Section#

  1. Open the position editor.
  2. Click an empty canvas cell, then drag across the area the Shift Section should occupy.
  1. Right-click the selection and choose Shift Section, or press Shift+S.
  1. Select the section and open Navigation in the inspector.
The Pages list contains Main and Shift. The position editor shows the controls assigned to the currently selected page.

Add the primary controls#

  1. Select Main in the Pages list.
  2. Add the buttons that should appear as the primary controls.
  3. For the PTZ example, add buttons that recall the required camera presets.
Buttons placed on Main appear while the Shift Section is on its primary layer.

Add the secondary controls#

  1. Select Shift in the Pages list.
  2. Add the buttons for the secondary function.
  3. For the PTZ example, add buttons that save the current camera position to the corresponding presets.
The built-in Shift control switches the section between Main and Shift. Its position can be changed under Folders/Shift Buttons in the inspector.
Select Apply to save the Shift Section and its controls.

Use custom navigation#

Under Folders/Shift Buttons, turn off the built-in page control when the layout uses its own navigation buttons. Add the internal action Set Active Page to a button and choose the page it should open.
Separate buttons can open Main and Shift, or other actions can change the active page as part of a larger control sequence.

Where to go next#

  • Turn on scrolling when either layer contains more controls than the visible section can display.
  • Use a Folder Section when the controls need more than a primary and secondary layer.
  • Add section authentication when access to either layer should require a role, PIN, or NFC credential.
