Create an independent workspace for one person's controls and surfaces. Before starting, decide whether you need another position or only another surface: add a surface when the same person needs another interface to an existing workspace.
Complete Add an ATEM connection first so connection presets and routing ports are ready when you add controls. A surface can be assigned now or later.
In Position description, add context that helps people distinguish this workspace from similar positions.
Under Size, set enough canvas space for the controls and surfaces used at this position.
Keep the workspace focused on what one person needs to accomplish. Create sections to organize related controls rather than making the canvas unnecessarily large.
Under Assigned Surfaces, select Assign Surface and choose an available surface. Buttons places it in the workspace and expands the position when the surface needs more room.
Assign every interface used by this person to the same position. For example, a hardware panel and browser interface used by the sound operator belong to the sound position. A panel used independently by the graphics operator belongs to a different position.
Surface changes remain staged until you apply them. Use Go to Surface Overview when you need to add, adopt, or configure a surface first.
Select Apply after changing the label, description, size, or surface assignments. Buttons saves the position configuration and canvas changes together.
Select Open Editor to add sections and controls. The assigned-surface outlines show where controls will appear on those interfaces.
The editor keeps its navigation and runtime state separate from the live position. You can open pages and popovers or advance state in the editor without moving the live surfaces to the same state.
Layout and configuration changes are also staged until you select Apply. After applying the design, open the editor's actions menu and select Push State to Live when you intentionally want the live position and its surfaces to adopt the editor's current runtime state.
Warning
Pressing a control in the editor can still control real equipment. Hold Shift only when you intend to enter Execute Mode and perform the selected control's actions. Confirm that the action is safe before testing it.
Return to Position → Position, select the position, and change its configuration. You can assign or unassign surfaces, adjust the canvas, duplicate the position, or reset its runtime state.
Reset Position State closes open popovers and clears local state such as position-variable values. Use it only when you intend to reset the active workspace; it is not required for ordinary configuration changes.
