Browse the NMOS inventory

The Inventory page lists every NMOS sender and receiver Buttons knows about across all adopted nodes and registries, independent of routing: useful for auditing a facility's NMOS estate, checking SDP and multicast state, or tracking down a specific stream without hunting through individual node pages.

Before you begin#

You need:
  • The NMOS feature enabled in Buttons.
  • At least one adopted NMOS node or connected Registry: see Discover, adopt, and route NMOS resources or Connect Buttons to an NMOS Registry.

Browse senders and receivers#

Open Connection → NMOS → Inventory. The Senders and Receivers tabs each list every port of that kind, with:
  • Transport and Format: the port's IS-04 transport (e.g. rtp) and media type (e.g. video/raw) or coarse format when the specific media type isn't known.
  • Active: whether the port currently has an active IS-05 connection.
  • SDP: Present, Missing, or Unknown (no verdict yet) for whether Buttons has successfully read the port's SDP.
  • Multicast legs: the ip:port Buttons last read from the port's SDP, one chip per leg (primary, and secondary for ST 2022-7 redundancy).
  • Bitrate: an estimated wire rate per leg, derived once when the SDP is read (not a live measurement).
A port linked to a node Buttons manages opens that node's own Ports tab; an adopted port from elsewhere in the estate shows as plain text.
Both tables are paged (loading further rows as you scroll) and searchable: search narrows by node, device, or port label, with a short debounce so fast typing doesn't trigger a round trip per keystroke.

Multicast allocations#

The Multicast allocations tab shows every managed multicast address, whether it came from an auto-assignment pool, a manual override, or was picked up from an adopted node's own configuration. See Manage NMOS multicast addresses for how pools, overrides, and renewal work, and how allocation records relate to what a sender's SDP actually announces on the wire.

Notes#

  • Static SDPs and PTP grandmaster health are additional Inventory capabilities available when their respective settings are turned on for your installation; they aren't part of the default NMOS setup and aren't covered here.
